I may have just attended my last bachelorette party and what way to close out this chapter by experiencing a “hen do” otherwise known as, a bachelorette party by the English! Natalie, our bride-t0-be, is an amazing friend of mine that I met while studying abroad in England during college. She is also a wedding photographer! We met in the photography program at Plymouth University and have flown great distances to visit each other and grow our friendship over the last 9 years. She attended my bachelorette party and stood by my side on my wedding day two years ago. It was so much fun to celebrate her this time!
There is one major difference when it comes to planning a Hen Do. The bride DOESN’T KNOW WHERE SHE IS GOING! Yup, the bridesmaids CHOOSE the location! We knew what kind of hen party she wanted and after many messages, we settled on Palma De Mallorca, Spain. Which, truthfully, I did not know existed as it is a tiny island just off of the main country of Spain. It was absolutely beautiful! The old town had small cobbled town streets and a majestic church sitting on top of a hill which provided beautiful views of the sea, the marina and the cruise ships that frequently came in and out of the harbor.
On the day of the hen party, we surprised our bride at the airport with a card that read, Your Hen location has been kept a secret…it’s been hard to keep! The day is finally here. No more lost sleep! Get ready! It’s going to be a whirl. The perfect getaway with your girls. There will be sun, sand, and a ring on your hand! Everything has been planned! Quick, grab your passport, don’t keep calm, the palm trees are waiting! Without further ado, your Hen Do is in….
And there we stood holding signs that said, Palma when she turned around! We did a lot while we were in town, including a catamaran tour and a paella cooking class! Can’t wait to see my best friend get married in Portugal next June!
