Have you heard Ed Sheeran’s new album? You’ll know the title of the blog post if so!
It’s a quick blog post about our quick trip to London! When I studied abroad in Plymouth, England for two semesters during college, my husband came to visit me a few times and I’ve been back to visit friends so we’ve come to know and love England pretty well! If you’re planning a summer trip to London any time soon I thought I’d share some of our favorite spots.
Last time I visited London was in February so an August trip was such a different environment! We drank the popular summer cocktail, Pimm’s… my favorite! We enjoyed drinks along the river on a boat with our friends Sarah & Ben which provided a great view of the London Eye and Parliament.
We took a stroll along Hyde Park and saw Princess Diana’s Fountain, beautiful swans, the Queen’s Garden and her gates. If you’re looking to do a little shopping, I recommend the Oxford Cirus tube stop!
A little while ago, I had found this cute little pink shop on Instagram called Peggy Porschen. It was decorated from top to bottom in florals and I basically looked like the emoji with the heart eyes. It was so fun to see it in person and experience the tea, coffee, and famous cupcakes and cakes.
About a month before we left, I reserved tickets to a show and dinner. We decided on the “Illusionists” rather than a play (although London has amazing plays!) The Illusionists was a magic show and very entertaining! I won’t spoil their secrets though. For dinner, I booked us a table at Frog by Adam Handling in Covent Garden. (Covent Garden is a beautiful area of the city). This dinner was a 5-course meal and quite the experience! Part of the meal had a dish that they poured water over which created this cool “smoke effect” from the dry ice.
Our friends, Natalie & Max snagged us some tickets on top of the Sky Garden which is free but you have to book tickets and you have to do it in advance. I tried four weeks before we left and the weekend slots were all sold out. So, we visited Monday morning before we left. It was a quick visit but definitely worth it! The Sky Garden has beautiful botanicals on the inside and great 360 views of London on the outside.
My favorite go-to for breakfast and a quick lunch is Pret A Manger. Delicious!
That’s it! We will be hopping over again next year to celebrate our two friends getting married. And if you’re headed over the pond soon, Bon Voyage!
